Happy Birthday

It’s my birthday and Independence Day!  This water marble MANicure is a present from my Husband, Mr. FLBN, who actually did my nails!  Mr. FLBN, an artist & hobby painter himself, was watching a youtube video of guitars being water marbled in 80’s colors and wanted to give it a try in red, white & blue. I have the greatest husband ever! Seriously.

Cleanup took over 2 hours, you can see why!

I Heart Nail Art

I heart nail art and polish!  If only I could remind myself of that, I started biting my nails again and my thumb took the hit.  I’ve been biting my nails since I was a toddler and it’s a life long habit I’m trying to break. I think bringing a nail file with me at all times might help.

Damage Control

I have a stash list to reference so I don’t buy duplicates. However, I was certain I knew my inventory which is how I ended up with 2 bottles of Zoya’s Julieanne. 🙂  I smudged my purple paint then took out my stamps and slapped on some white.  I figure if I mess up, and I do often, why should I scrap it?  I’ll just chalk it up to practice.

Stamping kicked my butt however, the dots were salvageable so I added some silver holo to the tips to cover my flaws.  Glitter has always been my autocorrect and I’m thankful for it!

Spring Break

 

I think I’ve become spoiled by the overabundance of glitter in the indie polishes I’ve been buying.  I never saw a swatch of the gold glitter but the bottle looked promising enough. Wet n Wild 18K Gold is one of those polishes you have to fish around for the glitter & then try to place it. Not my favorite.

Sun Conure

Here’s a baby Sun Conure!  The other nails were blended to capture the orange, yellow & green of the parrot.  I made a nail sticker this time instead of trying to paint everything upside down and cut him out with cuticle scissors.  It’s not lost on me that I put the bird on the bird, sorry, it was unintentional. It wasn’t fitting on my ring finger and I had already painted my index. I based him off the picture I took below of this 2 month old my husband is holding:

Orange, guava & grapefruit juice.  It kind of  looks like the Today Show logo. The e.l.f. Party Peach coverage was impressive and only needed one coat.  I only have 3 Spa Ritual polishes that I’ve picked up at TJ Maxx I really wish I owned more.  I used the office supply hole reinforcements from Target that a multiple blogs had recommended, they’re fantastic.

Yummy Kale

I love Kale, yes the leafy green vegetable. Kale chips homemade or store bought are a weakness of mine.  I was inspired by a $0.99 reusable grocery bag I own from Whole Foods.  I had stocked up on Zoya during their Earth Day sale which was fortunate as this called for many shades of green.  I don’t own any creme colors for the swirls so I mixed my own.

Peach Fuzz Refresh-mint

My 3rd attempt at a Fuzzy Coat manicure today. It was so hot & humid my polish refused to dry and the other two attempts ended up smushed. But I prevailed!

Bazaar

I fought to get a decent shot of this mani.  It was so shiny and pretty in person but in the pictures, the flake topcoat looked more like the surface of the moon.  Anyone else encounter something like that?
