The Parrot Ate My Homework

Ever wonder what it would look like if a large parrot took a bite of your nail art?  I didn’t either however, my Cockatoo answered it for me anyhow.

Here she is…

She is not biting me but is fascinated with my nails.  I’ve been trying to keep them unpainted which helps quite a bit or paint and then remove it immediately. I don’t think gloves are the answer.  I can’t be the only one having these issues.

I don’t want to give up my hobby.  Anyone have any useful tips for distracting parrots from fingernails?

Psychedelic Calico Color Kitty

This kitty came home during a visit to the Hemingway House in Key West, Florida.  The Author, Ernest Hemingway, owned polydactyl cats and 40 or so of their feline decedents still live there.  The cats are all over the property, it’s like an Easter egg hunt finding them lounging about. Check out their website if you’re not familiar and fond of cats.

I had a blast doing this as I’m such a fan of color.  At some point I’ll likely mimic the paint on the other side too.

Sun Conure

Here’s a baby Sun Conure!  The other nails were blended to capture the orange, yellow & green of the parrot.  I made a nail sticker this time instead of trying to paint everything upside down and cut him out with cuticle scissors.  It’s not lost on me that I put the bird on the bird, sorry, it was unintentional. It wasn’t fitting on my ring finger and I had already painted my index. I based him off the picture I took below of this 2 month old my husband is holding:

He’s sleeping with his mouth open.
